Hello Games has announced that No Man’s Sky will release on iPhone and iPad on October 28, 2026, with pre-orders opening ahead of launch. It is another step toward bringing large games to devices once associated with simpler mobile experiences.
From a difficult launch to more platforms
I remember the reaction to No Man’s Sky at launch: for many players, the experience did not match expectations built around its presentation. Years of expansion and free updates became more important than that initial argument. It was not an overnight turnaround.
That makes the mobile release interesting as another stage of the game’s history. It is now coming to Apple phones and tablets. This announcement does not announce an Android edition.
Not limited to the newest devices
The announcement names iPhone 11 and third-generation iPad Air and newer devices. Check your exact model in the App Store before buying. Support does not imply identical visuals or performance across every supported device.
The appeal is convenience
If the experience is comfortable, checking in on a world without starting a PC could be a real benefit. A tablet may offer a useful balance of portability and screen space. For now, we have an announcement and a release date. Judging execution requires the released game and actual testing.
What is included on iPhone and iPad?
- The iOS release does not support multiplayer at launch.
- Hello Games lists Planetary Settlements support on iPhone 15 Pro and newer.
- The game file size is stated to be under 4 GB.
- Controller support accompanies touch controls, with mouse and keyboard support on iPad.
- The game will be free to try at launch; that is not a promise that the full game is permanently free.
The biggest trade-off for me is the lack of shared play. Mobile exploration sounds appealing, but this is not a replacement for a multiplayer edition if you want to play with friends. The free trial will let you assess controls and performance on your own device.
